You’re a child from ages 0-18. The rest of your glorious life? Adulthood (DUN DUN DUN). Today, I ran over a nail that got stuck in my tire. I thought a simple patch job would be enough to keep my tire moving, but I was VERY wrong.

For the first time in my life, I had the privilege of paying for my vehicle’s maintenance and repair—a job I’d always relied on my parents to handle. While the cost of a new tire was overwhelming and unexpected, a deeper lesson emerged.

Embracing Personal Responsibility

THIS IS ADULTING, HAN. This is the time to take personal and professional responsibility for my possessions, finances, relationships, and everything else that makes up my life.

It’s amazing how a shift in perspective can transform an experience that had me on the verge of tears into one I am now grateful for. Without this catalyst, I would still be waiting for someone else to come and save the day when the real savior is ME.

Betting on Ourselves

In all our lives, there comes a time when we must bet on ourselves instead of waiting for a hero to make everything right. The greatest ally we have is ourselves.

As we continue to be forged and strengthened by life’s challenges, let’s greet these difficulties with open arms. Without them, we would stay the same and miss out on the bounty that existence has to offer.
