Let’s talk about sound. Actually, let’s talk about the incredible ability to hear. When a baby is in its mother’s womb, the first sense perception to develop is hearing. The fetus begins to interact with its surroundings through sound.

Sound allows us to interact with life in a profoundly intimate way—perhaps more so than any other of our five senses.

The Voice of Life

Think about it: sensing the voice of life is spectacular. Hearing confirms that we are alive in a world that is also alive. It closes the illusion of separation from life itself. Though we interact with life in seemingly separate ways, the sounds around us—the birds, cars, voices, music—affirm that we are here, right now.

So, What is Sound?

Sound is vibration. Everything vibrates. The world that appears tangible and solid is actually masses of energy vibrating at different speeds, forming what we perceive as solid matter.

But nothing is truly solid…

When we apply this understanding to our own bodies, we see how sound affects us. Our bodies resonate at specific frequencies, depending on our emotional state. When we’re sad, our bodies emit a lower vibration; when happy, our vibration rises.

Emotions = Vibrations.

Music resonates at particular frequencies, holding the power to shift, expand, and alter our emotional states. Since everything vibrates, sound vibrations penetrate our minds, bodies, and spirits, allowing us to work on our emotional health in an amazing way.
